Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Getting the finally touches ready around here for the holidays. I won top score in my bowling level last night and that wasfun. Our team had three out of the five of us win awards, so that helps explain why we are always hovering near the top of the list for teams and scores. Later, we should be heading out for the holidays so I'll be AFK for a few days. In case I haven't passed it on to you already, Merry Christmas and please enjoy your holidays safely. We'll see ya in the New Year and all the best to you.

Enjoy!

Power Outage & Snow storm

We had 27cm of snow + rain hit us late Friday thru to early Saturday morning. By the time we were up and ready to clear the walk ways and decks the snow was ice and nearly impossible to remove with a shovel. This is why over 100,000 people in NS were without power anywhere from 12 to 28 hours. Since we have electric heating, the loss of power could have been bad. Thanks to our wood stove, we had heat and a place to cook. Mmmmm...we were still able to make our morning coffee & tea...we just had to dig out our camping gear from the store room. We also had to dig out the lantern and flashlights.

*laugh* We are retying our outdoor flags before permenantly hanging them. In order to get it done right, the flag is on the floor (it's clean) but the dog just walked across it a few times. I guess we know what he thinks of Canada. *LAUGH*

Well, time to get ready for another week. One more course before the Holidays. 24 paid days to unwind and gear up before this winter's series of courses.

Enjoy!

Cold or Flu - Not the way to get a day off!

Coming down with a Cold/Flu is never much fun. Having to instruct a class is nearly impossible when you can't breath from stuffy nose or talk from coughing and dry throat. I know medications help releive some of the symptoms, but who carries this stuff to and from work each day?

My boss was cool though and told me to get home and look after myself early in the day. I had to get some stuff finished before heading out, but then I had the rest of the day for sleep and drinking lots of water. The rule of thumb is to drink your normal fluid intake plus 4.25L of water whenever you have cold/flu symptoms.

At least I saved some funds. Someone gave me advice to head over to the hospital and request a 'cold pack'. It only took 5 minutes to do and saved me about $17.00 out of my own pocket. All I have had to cover is the cost of throat lozengez.

That's my day, and an early trip to bed tonight.

Enjoy!

Boxes, barrels, paper and more....

Over four weeks later after moving in and we'er still unpacking. I've spent the morning sorting through nine barrels worth of stuff....about half of it is junk and being thrown out. I'm still asking myself why I even had it moved here. At least the fire is keeping us warm and the dog is in his bed all happy curled up while we sort away.

We finally looked at the paperwork that came with the move and found out the bill came in at approximately $7700.00!!! This price tag does not include all the mandatory costs such as hotels, meals, reconnection fees and misc expenses that occurred due to the move. These costs were also covered on the claim, coming in at approximately $4000.00. So in total, the cost to the government for the move came in around $33.81 per Kilometer to move from PEI to our place outside of Halifax. At these prices I'd have tossed most of my stuff before moving if I had to pay for it myself.

Those are my thoughts for today. Were supposed to get flurries/snow for the next two days. 'Til later, Enjoy!
