Postponed = Panic?

After raving for more than a month about heading back for more training, I arrived at work this past Tuesday to a message that my training has been postponed until 2007. As soon as I saw the email, I informed all the appropriate people in charge and they nearly went nuts with panic. I guess there were plans in the new year for me to start the courses and without my skills being upgraded I can not start to offer those new courses. Now they are looking at all their angles to try and see when they might be able to offer this advanced training.

This means that I have spent a nice weekend at home instead of away for two weeks. I still have to fly out for the meeting in QC, but that is only a three day trip. Oh well, time to start thinking about Christmas.

Enjoy!

I don't get paid enough for this.

My boss was the highest rank possible before he retired. With his retirenment, yes the good news is that I am now getting the training I wanted, but I am also getting the headaches and trouble that he had to deal with. Actually the challenges are worse becasue I do not have the rank to back up the decisions I have to make in my position.

When I let someone know some news they do not like, they start fighting/aruging and demanding to talk to someone else. I send them to my boss, who turns around and asks me to detail everything so that he can tell them exactly what I just said hours earlier. *SIGH*

I don't get paid enough for these headaches. *laugh* I'm actually a deal at $94 less per day compared to my old boss. In all fairness, he had over 35 years experience. I do not even try to attempt to say that I replace him and his knowledge. But I sure could use the influence of the rank he carried. If there was one motivational reason to get moving and get promoted, the challenges I had this past two weeks would qualify.

That's how things have looked for me the last little while. I'll be off to NB for another two weeks for more training. Until then Enjoy!

Remember and Fall

Yesterday's ceremony was well attended. There were about the same number of people as last year. I think it helps the weather was so nice out that people only had to wear a sweater this fall. There was even a yellow jacket buzing around the crowd looking for a place to stay warm. We were surpised to find one alive this time of year. I saw a photo of the wreath laid by my old job. I sure didn't like the way they wrote the name on the ribbon this year. Maybe it's just my bias. *shrug* Oh well, I'm not there this year.

The chimney sweep finally arrived, a week late, to do the job yesterday. We were surprised he would do the job on Remembreance Day, but he got the job done. Then he surprised us with an additional $20 'transportation fee' to cover the milage h had to travel to get to us. We not NOT imprssed with him on that one.

This past week I finished running my first FAIT course and the new IT must now run an ICP this week and then monitor the new instructors the week after. So I have a pretty easy two weeks and this will give me time to study up on my own skills before heading back to New Brunswick.

Enjoy!
