Time flys way too fast.

Well one chapter is coming to a close sooner than we thought. First thing in the morning, I was placing my morning call and got the official word. I am not going to be able to earn the next level of training that I had been looking forward to. Of course this was disappointing to hear, but having the time to hear the reasons explained why helps accept the news alot better. Between schedualing, appointments, vacations and that kind sort of stuff there is no time available to properly get me trained and cetified for the next level before his retirenment.

This news does not preclude me from getting the training sometime in the furture, nor does it threaten my current contract. I asked if this was a reflection of my skills and I was reassured this situation was not due to my skills. I am so glad to have taken the time to ask these questions and had the opportunity to understand what is going on. This is better than stewing over it, woundering if it was my skills or he had screwed me around. At least now I know some answers that I can live with.

The good news is that I will be getting some new training in a couple of areas that normally, I would have to pay for myself and this will actually retrench my skills in this current contract even more. So overall, I am still content how things are going. Gotta run, Enjoy!

Spring Cleaning already done early

*sign* No good idea goes without it turning into a duty. Before Christmas, I forwarded a question a student had asked me, and instead I was told who to go find to get the correct answer. For the past three weeks, the cleaners have been stipping and waxing the floors in the clasrooms. Now someone had the great idea of asking if the office & storeroom needed to be done as well.

Low and behold guess what I was told to do? Empty out those two rooms so the floors could be done properly. Both rooms have hundreds of boxes and equipment and it took a full day each to empty and refill the rooms (last friday and then monday) in time for the next course. Not much fun at all.

The good thing is that all the spring cleaning is done and the floors look great. They won't have to be done like that again for a few months. Take your time and Enjoy!

Employment, Contracts and Extensions

The ever ending cycle of someone who works from contract to contract is one of uncertanty. Near the end of each contract, you start to worry and concern builds weather or not you will be approved for an extension on your current contract or have to start looking for another one.

On my way home from work friday, I received the happy news in my hands that I will be extended until March 2007. This means that I have reliable, stable work for over 13 months now. I am so happy to have received that news, since I had added worries.

Work has a list of items that need to always be up to date in order to be offered a contract. Well, my medical evaluation had expired last year and nobody noticed until I applied for my contract extension. They were not going to consider my request unless I had a current medical. I almost hit the roof with a combination of worry about losing this job, anger over someone dropping the ball and not letting me know this had to be completed sooner and simple frustration that if I had of known I could have taken steps to fix this issue earlier.

With news that I have the extension, all the worry, anger and frustration is now wasted energy. I have the first part of my medical booked for later this month and off I go to the races. *smile* I know that I do not have any major health problems that should interfear with the job, but the rules have the medical expire every five years until I turn 40 years old.

Not much is going on this weekend. We have finally unpacked the last of our boxes from the move and filed the insurance claim for the few items that were broken or missing from the move. Over all, the move went far better than I would have expected. The cost of the move still stuns me, and make me glad that we were not the ones paying for it.

Enjoy!
