Predicting double the cost of gas

With the price of gas spiking so high so fast in the last few days, I'm ready to predict the price of gas to double from 83cents in late spring to more than $1.60 by the time this fall rolls around.

It used to cost between $32-$36 to fill the 40 Litre tank for a trip to Halifax. With the increases in gas, It now takes more than $57 for the same trip, with the prices @ $1.349 per litre. That's an extra $19 per tank.

The worst part is, the gas stations on the mainland have already been told to prepare for the next increase in the next day or so. The price is expected to be raised to $1.53 per litre. That extra 18 cent increase will add an addtional $15 to fill the tank for a total jump of $34 in two weeks.

Therefore, I can easily predict the price of gas more than double it's 83cent per litre price prior to the start of the summer. And I do not see it dropping to anywhere near that level ever again.

On another note. We finished our gold tournement yesterday and made it into Halifax around 8pm last night. We made the decision to push onward to home and avoid the weekend traffic & Stone's concert traffic that will clogg the highways this weekend. There was heavier traffic on the way into Halifax/Moncton than on our way home. If I'm lucky, when he head back Monday, things should be just as light.
