2006 Summer Vacation

After weeks of research and planning, we have nailed down the timing of our 23 days vacation this summer. With no children of our own, combined with out friends and family spread across Canada, we decided to drive coast-to-coast and return. Since we are making the drive between the coasts, we have also make the choice to integrate as many tourist activities as possible in between.

We estimate to be travelling close to 15,200 kilometres during our trip. We have the maps, routes, tolls and gas stations all planned out. Some of the places we are looking to visit include:

- Making Calgary within 3 days from the east coast.
- Taking in the Calgary Stampede.
- Moving on, both of us spend time visiting family in BC.
- Now we have reached Victoria, and we can start the tourist efforts in earnest.
- Our bigges thrills are to take High-tea and a sightseeing trip for whales.
- After leaving Canada's other Island, we are taking the sights of Banff & Jasper parks.
- By the time we head into Edmonton all we have left to do this far north is to visit family before moving along.
- The next large tourist thrill is for us to check out Niagara Falls and the CN Tower.
- We have friends and family to visit in Ontario to keep us busy for a couple of days.
- We even found time to tour Ottawa and meet some co-workers who we normally only ever talk to over the phone or email.
- When we loop back into New Brunswick, we pick the dog up from his grandmother.
- We visit some NB tourisit sites and then into PEI.
- On the Island we have the Drive-In and the ferry to make our vacation a true coast-to-coast tour.
- finally we make it home with a full day to recover and prepare to get back to work until the Christmas holidays.

Expect lots of posts, comments and we plan on pictures covering the plan I outlined above. At $0.32 per Km, we are planning on getting our money's worth out of this vacation. As a point of reference, last summer I had just started working F/T and was not assured long term contract work. Therefore our vacation was frugal and we did not do as much in comparason to this summer. This summer, our budget is twice as much and our planning is cramming in as many activities as we can imagine.

We look forward to this summer and hope your's is as interesting. Enjoy!
