Summer Fun & Vacation

Well as per normal our vacation went off terrifically. We decided on heading over to Cape Breton this time since none of us had ever been there. So we spent nine days traveling over 2000 Kilometers around Cape Breton. My roomate had never taken a true vacation - Traveling somewhere just for the fun of / to experience a new place. So this was a 1st for her.

Another list of first was for the dog. He'd never been taken on a trip like this either. He got to see: Squirrles, a rabbit, geese and horses. He kept chasing after the squirrels and they would run away real fast and their "chittering" sounded like they were laughing at him for not being able to catch them. That ok, because my roomate made up for it with a final count of 11 squirrels she ran over during the trip. *Grin* In all fairness, some of them had already roadkill.

Tourist activities such as the Cabot Trail, Fortress Louisbough, Whale watching, Miner's Museum, Alexander Graham Bell Museum, and horseback riding are all worth the effort. Some areas that were not worth the effort was the Giant MacAcall's museum, the Inverness car ferry and the coin operated showers at the Meat Cove private campground. The best news is that no fishing liscene is needed for tidal fishing off the pier in most places on Cape Breton. So we spent a couple days fishing for Mackeral in Louisbough and Sydeny. If you are planning on seeing Fortress Louisbough take the advice of the brochure and plan for a full day to tour and take in all the sights of the fortress. Also, no Dogs are allowed at the park. It's a 20min bus ride one way, from the park entrance to the fortress. So leaving your dog with family in the area or there is a B&B who takes in dogs for the day in the community of Louisbough for $12 total.

We stayed at provincial camp grounds with showers and safe camping areas at a price of $18.00 per night with taxes included. Now that's for a tent only. Our 1st four nights were with no bed to sleep on. By day four, we hit the nearest store and bought an air matress.

So now I am into my new job and am totally enjoying it. As things move along with it, I will post more. Enjoy!
