Moving with the times
We know it's the nature of our job, but come near the end of FY and we get nervous about our next contract. Both of us are demanding our new contract, for myself it's just a renewal.
On top of that stress, we received notice that we must move before 1 April 2007. The landlord is selling the house and we must vacate. If our jobs are to stay in Halifax, we need to pay for this mandatory move ourselves. If our jobs take us elsewhere, we are looking at seperation for 6 - 12 months while we work through the move.
Today we headed out to the second trade show we ever went to together. This one was the largest RV show in Atlantic Canada. I grew up with trailer camping and have not looked into trailers for the past 20 years. I was more than amazed at the minimum standards automatically included in trailers these days. More so with the low rate costs available to purchase them as well. Before we ever by an RV, I would talk with my grandparents and get their first hand advice.
Before posting tonight, I read a news item of school boards, parents and students at odds over allowing/banning cell phones in school. I think the debate is out of order since nobody has looked at what people had to do before cell phones did not exisit.
I instruct a course each week. Within the first 5 minutes I tell them to turn phones off. By the second day, someone seems to have a phone ringing and inturrupting the course. The red faced, half muttered "I'm in class" and everyone staring at them barley embarasses adult students these days. Imagin the effect on teens who push societal limits to the maximum?
